The Houston Museum of Natural Science was founded in 1909 by the Houston Museum and Scientific Society. The museum is near the northern border of Hermann Park in Houston, Texas. The museum’s mission is to be a non-profit institution for Houstonians that focuses on education and science. The museum’s attendance is more than two million visitors per year. The museum comprises the main building with four levels of exhibit areas and halls—Cockrell Butterfly Center and Burke Baker Planetarium. Burke Baker Planetarium is one of the most popular exhibits in the museum.
The Museum is among the most well-known museums in the United States ad has been placed below the New York’s American Museum of Natural History and Metropolitan Museum of Art in San Francisco as the most visited in all museums besides the Smithsonian Museum.
The museum’s principal collection was bought between 1914 and the year 1930. It was acquired through the acquisition of a collection of non-history collected from Henry Philemon Attwater as well as a gift by John Milsaps. The city’s fists housed Houston’s auditorium and its Central Library for seven years.

Planetarium
Since 1964, the Burke Baker Planetarium has been providing astronomical programming to millions of people from various school groups to people from the public at large. The planetarium was upgraded and is now equipped with Digistar 6, which enables the guests to fly through the universe, explore planets’ surfaces, and explore the immenseness of space.
